Robert (1930-2008) and Jean CLOUTIER (1930-2015)
Brothers. twins, Jean and Robert Cloutier completed their training at the Meaux ceramics school by joining various Parisian workshops, notably those of Georges Jouve (1910-1974) and Pol Chambost(1906-1983). In 1965, they set up their own workshop at 53 rue deReuilly  in Paris. They turned their attention to tableware decoration creating the famous "red Cloutier" characteristic of their production.
They exhibited at the Salon des Ateliers d'Art de France in 1963. They collaborate as decorators with industrialists  such as Haviland in Limoges. Their research led them to work on architecture and interior decoration, innovating with claustra walls. In 1972, they moved to Vinneuf (Yonne), then to Marsillargues in Languedoc in 1977.
The Cloutier brothers contributed to the revival of French ceramics in the 50s, creating a dreamlike world of their own.
