At the same time, he began making ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop that he had built in 1947 in order to increase his production, as demand was high after the war. His wife Jacqueline, also a Fine Arts graduate, helps him in his production. They hire employees, and focus on the quality of their production. Jean Austruy produced numerous pieces of utilitarian ceramics, vases and pitchers.
