Jean Austruy (1910-2012)

A graduate of the School of Decorative Arts and Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jean Austruy moved to Saint-Marcellin in Isère, and for nine years taught drawing in this city as well as at the School of Fine Arts. arts and Industrial Arts in Grenoble. At the same time, he began working in ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop he had built in 1947 in order to increase his production, as demand was high after the war. His wife Jacqueline, also a Fine Arts graduate, helps with his production. They hire people, and care about the quality of their production. Jean Austruy produced numerous pieces of utility ceramics, vases and pitchers.
