Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres

This famous porcelain factory, founded in 1740, was successively Royal, Imperial and National Manufacture. In 1768, the discovery in France of the first Kaolin deposit allows the manufacture of real so-called hard porcelain. The mission of Sèvres since its inception has been to create artistic ceramic objects using artisanal techniques. Its reputation for excellence has always attracted the best visual artists and designers, from Boucher, Falconet in the 18th century, Rodin in the 19th century, Ruhlmann in the 1930s.
