Jacques Blin (1920-1995)

After studying aeronautical engineering, Jacques Blin worked in this branch for several years as a draftsman; attracted by the visual arts, he approached ceramics, then he devoted himself entirely to it from 1948-1949. In 1954, he set up a workshop in Paris and exhibited at the     Maison de la Chimie and at the Salon des Céramistes et Métiers d 'art. His molded pieces with speckled enamel and engraved decorations of primal birds and animals were immediately very popular. For twenty years he was president of the Chambre Syndicale des Ceramistes et Ateliers d'Art, of which he effectively promoted the Salon des ateliers d'art de France, both in France and abroad. Finally, he was appointed vice-president of the International Academy of Ceramics, headquartered in Geneva.
