Scandinavian ceramics
From the 1940s Scandinavian ceramics became internationally renowned.
The manufacturers of Sweden, Denmark and Finland will lay the foundations for a clean and fluid style, emblematic of Nordic productions.
In Denmark, two principal factories will develop these productions: Royal Copenhagen will work with Axel Salto and Nils Thorsson and then with Gertrud Vasegaard. Bing and Grøndahl will use Erik Magnussen and Gertrud Vasegaard.
Saxbo was founded by Nathalie Krebs (1895-1978) and Gunnar Nylund (1904-1996). Nathalie Krebs' split-necked pitchers are emblematic of Saxbo's production and style. Eva Staehr Nielsen (1911-1976) will join the Saxbo team from 1932 onwards.
