Jacques Innocenti (1926 - 1958)

Jacques Innocenti became one of the iconic French art ceramists. He completed his studies at the L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In 1949, Innocenti moved to Vallauris, where he worked at La Poterie du Grande Chêne, led by his parents. He established his own pottery in 1952. His decorations tended to be figurative and he favored classic themes such as bathers, portraits, genre scenes, and architectural subjects. Innocenti clearly referenced Pablo Picasso, in terms of subject matter and style. His wares, typically included dessert and coffee services, jugs and pitchers. Innocenti frequently participated in exhibitions In 1955 he won a silver medal in Cannes International Ceramics Exhibition.
