CAPRON Roger ( 1922-2006 )
Professor at the School of the Decorative arts of Paris, Capron is interested at first in drawing. In 1946, He discovers the work of ceramic and creates in association with Robert Picault the Callis workshop to Vallauris. He set up in 1952 his own company and realizes pieces in mass production (cups, vases, bottles, lamp-stands). In 1957, the workshop employs 40 people and orders are flowing from all over the world, particularly from the New York department store Saks Fifth Avenue. Capron also creates beautiful and rare pieces reserved for the exhibitions and inspired by scenes of antiquity. In the 60s, he is moving towards ceramic murals composed of ornamental tiles. From the 80s, he turns to the unique pieces and sculptures in Raku.
