Lurçat Jean (1892-1966)
The master of contemporary tapestry, turned to ceramics at the beginning of the 1950s. For 15 years, he stayed regularly in the workshop of Sant-Vicens pottery, created by Firmin Bauby. With the technical help of ceramist Gumersid Gomila, he decorates dishes, vases, pitchers and other everyday objects. His work as a ceramist is also marked by monumental creations, such as that which adorns the radio house in Strasbourg (1961) or the administrative city of Paris (1965).
