About...

The pottery of Dieulefit Country (Drôme, France)

The pottery activity dates back to Dieulefit two millennia: the Gallo-Roman potters of the first century as those of the first half of the twentieth used local clay. A 12th century pottery kiln has been updated near the site of Notre-Dame-de-la-Calle Church. It is the nineteenth that will be the flourishing era of this craft since there were 90 potters. The second half of the twentieth saw the development of a ceramic art with Etienne Noël and later with Jacques Pouchain.
