About...

The Fourmaintraux dynasty

Emile Fourmaintraux created in 1899 a workshop at the place La Poterie in Desvres (Pas-de-Calais). His son Gabriel launched in 1905 the exclusive manufacture of porcelain which lasted until 1925, when it can return to the manufacture of faience. Gabriel Fourmaintraux will then largely develop the pieces inspired by the French regional styles that will be sold throughout the territory, and in Belgium thanks to a nascent commercial network.

In 1946: Claude Fourmaintraux and Daniel Dutertre came to support Gabriel, their father and father-in-law, and developed the company Fourmaintraux and Dutertre SA until 1985-86. It will then be a slow decline until the complete cessation of activity in 2009. The Gabriel Fourmaintraux factory is now the museum of faience of Desvres with a collection of more than 10,000 molds.
