Arne Wahl Iversen (1927-2016)

Arne Wahl Iversen, whose father owned a furniture store in Nyborg (Denmark), attended a training course in furniture engineering at the Odense Technical School. From 1949 to 1951, he went to the Academy of Arts, the school of furniture art directed by Kaare Klint. In 1957, he began a collaboration with Ingvar Kamprad who created Ikea on the Swedish market. At that time, famous names like Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl and Hans Wegner had made famous the art of Danish furniture. The collaboration with Ikea ended after a few years when Arne Wahl Iversen chose to follow his own path and produce his furniture in many factories in Denmark, but these are probably the Komfort models for which he is best known.

The furniture manufacturer Komfort is known for its production of mid-century pieces by famous Danish architects-designers Sven Ellekaer, Arne Wahl Iversen and Ole Wanscher.
