French ceramic pitcher Pol Chambost 50s

Rare vase pitcher zoomorphic created by Pol Chambost in 1956, with oblique neck. It is covered with a slightly granular matt enamel consisting of fine horizontal stripes brown, beige and greenish, inside covered with a bright gray enamel. This pitcher was produced in very few number.

Pol Chambost (1906-1983), trained as sculptor, chooses from the 1930s till the 1980s the earth as plastic expression.
Parisian ceramist, he explores numerous facets of creation,from the unique object to the small series. He is one of the spearheads of the Trade association of French Ceramists. The curvilinear and sensual shape of his ceramics shows the passion of an artist, one of the most talented ceramists of the 50s, for the beautiful, useful and ornamental objects.
