Strip of polychrome geometric patterns on black background at the base of the vase.Similar model reproduced in the catalog "Charles Catteau", auction by Massol Paris on 21 and 22 February 2008 (lot nr 376).

About...

CATTEAU Charles (1880-1966)

Franco-Belgian ceramist, he joined in 1906 the Boch-Keramis company where he became the director of the shop decoration. Influenced by the great currents of the time (African, Japanese, Cubism ...) he will get international recognition to the Decorative Arts Exhibition of 1925 in Paris. His stoneware vases with stylized motifs of fauna and flora are very famous.
