Magnificent art deco vase, oblong shape with two fine handles and a wide flared neck, brown, blue and gold geometrical decoration on a cracked white background.

Gustave De Bruyn, born in Belgium in 1838, settles his first potter's workshop in 1864. At the beginning of 1870s, he makes build a factory in the district of Lille Fives. 
In 1902, the factory occupies a surface about 14000 m2 and employs about 300 workers. Interrupted by the war, the activity knows a great prosperity in the middle of the twenties. After the crisis of 1931-1932 which affects hard the factory and the cessation of any activities during the second world war, the production will start again at the liberation until the fifties. It stops definitely its production in 1962.
