Villeroy and  Boch

In 1791 Nicolas Villeroy establishes an earthenware factory to Vaudrevange in the Saar (today Wallerfangen). In 1809, Jean-François Boch purchases the Benedictine abbey of Mettlach and fits out this baroque building to settle amodern factory of china, almost completely mechanized.
In 1836 Jean-François Boch and Nicolas Villeroy amalgamate three sites to become the brand Villeroy and Boch. This company will  be known for the manufacturing of tiles, sanitary and bathrooms, while continuing its manufacturing of China. After 1960 the brand turns to the design by appealing to numerous artists as Maria Kohler.
