About...

Alexandre Kostanda ( 1924 )
He was born in Poland. He is an apprentice of Louis Giraud to Vallauris in 1936 then settles down to Cluny in 1942. At the end of the war, he teaches throwing and pottery at the Longchamp potteries and at school of decorative arts  in Beaune, where he trained the four founders of Accolay workshop. In 1949, he returns to Vallauris and is in charge of Louis Giraud's Pottery, then he set up his own workshop in 1953. He organizes with others potters in 1968 the international bienniale at Vallauris. The slips he uses on his stoneware are restricted in range from brown to rust-red, with robust forms.
